Daniel Bzura
City Council
Title: Councilman

Councilman Dan Bzura was was elected to his second four-year term in November 2017. He was first elected to serve in November 2013. His motto since taking office is a familiar quote: “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit”.

After graduating from Albion College in 1988, he embarked on a 20-plus year career in the financial industry, starting with the Management Training Program at what was then known as Manufacturers National Bank. Bzura progressed through the ranks of Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager, and Branch Officer at MNB, which eventually merged with Comerica Bank. He left Comerica in 1996 to join a new financial institution, Community Bank of Dearborn. Over the next 16 years, Bzura helped grow the bank from two branch locations to a billion dollar institution with 15 branch locations.

As Vice President of Branch Operations, he was responsible for the Retail Banking division, Loss Prevention, Security, and Bank Secrecy. In 2013, Bzura joined Fives Cinetic Corporation where he works on the Project Management team. Fives is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of assembly, test, and washer systems, primarily for the automotive industry. His financial and management background, ability to effectively work independently and on a team, and his problem solving skills enhanced the transition to his current employer.

A lifelong resident of Taylor, Bzura says his greatest passion is his family. Dan and Cori are the proud parents of Matthew and Lindsey. Attending school and athletics events, traveling, enjoying a park, restaurant or shopping in Taylor, or just being together at home, are his keys to happiness.

One of his other passions is Little League Baseball. Both of his children played at Taylor Northwest Little League, where he was a coach for several years. Bzura is also part of the all-volunteer team that organizes the Junior League World Series. Dan is very proud that he and the many volunteers they work with, who are led by his father Greg Bzura, are able to welcome the world to Taylor every year in August. Not only is it a great athletic event with participants from throughout the world making memories that last a lifetime, the JLWS is also an economic boost to the Downriver area. Being live on ESPN is a great opportunity to showcase Taylor on a national level.
