Mike Baum, a 1967 Taylor Center High School graduate, lettered in football, basketball and baseball and was named athlete of the year as a senior. He played baseball at Washtenaw Junior College and was awarded a baseball scholarship to Lewis and Clark State College in Idaho.
A teacher in the Taylor School District for the past 29 years, Baum has spent his after-school hours coaching boys and girls basketball, football, baseball and softball at the junior school and high school levels. His teams have won many district and league championships and he was awarded coach of the year honors.
Baum guided the Taylor girls fast-pitch travel team to state championships. In addition, he has worked for the City of Taylor Parks and Recreation department for more than 27 years, supervising sports and children’s activities.
